In this day and age, we have become dependent on pre-packaged processed foods. Time is money, and one of the first things that fall by the wayside is a well-balanced diet. We tell ourselves that we do not have the time to prepare a well-balanced, nutrient-rich meal and that grabbing something on the go will make us more productive by saving us time.
We couldn’t be more wrong.
If you are well-fed and well-rested, your productivity will be through the roof. You will have more energy to burn, and your mental abilities and concentration will be increased significantly.
Like Abraham Lincoln famously said: “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the ax.” We feel that by saving 30 minutes not preparing a wholesome meal, we have 30 minutes to spend on work related tasks.
While the opposite is actually true. Feeding your mind and body the right foods is the equivalent of sharpening your ax.
In today’s post, I have compiled a list of 5 potent superfoods that will improve your overall health, and increase your energy levels.
Most of these will be best used in their natural state, or as close as possible to their natural state. This preserves all the goodness and ensures that your body reaps all the benefits.
The last two on this list are potent for energy, well-being and focus from my personal experience.
David Wolfe has repeatedly lauded the weight loss effects, as well as the energy level increases gained from the use of cacao. It’s been labeled as “The Worlds Greatest Superfood” (See video below to find out why Raw Chocolate is “The Food Of The Gods”).
Rich in antioxidants, iron, manganese, zinc, phosphorus, chromium, magnesium and vitamin C it truly is a nutrient-rich energy booster. In fact, of all the superfoods listed here, I would rate Cacao as my favorite when I am low on energy.
Popular as an anti-depressant in some parts of the world, raw cacao has 4 times more anti-oxidant power than the popular blueberry. Regular consumption of this superfood will also improve heart function, reduce cancer risk and lower your LDL (Low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol level.

There is no more nutrient-rich superfood than sprouted seeds. These are easy and simple to grow at home and make for an inexpensive but healthy addition to any salad or smoothie. Sunflower seeds can be considered the king among seeds, as they offer great flavor and packs a whole heap of nutritional value.
Once a sunflower seed has sprouted, it contains 30 times more protein, vitamin, and minerals than organic vegetables. Sprouted seeds also have 100 times more enzymes than raw fruits and vegetables, which enhances your body’s ability to absorb the nutrients from the other foods you eat.
Look out for handy kits to get started growing your own sprouts at home. I have seen kits on Amazon for under $20 that gets you up and running in no time with 6 different kinds of sprouts.
This has to be the most versatile superfood on this list. From a refreshing drink of coconut water to cooking with coconut oil, to eating the flesh or meat, this superfood is a must for energy and general health.
The water inside a coconut contains plenty of electrolytes, and is rich in potassium, making it a great option for rehydration. On top of this, coconut water also fights viruses.
The meat of a coconut contains high levels of fiber and protein and is an excellent source of saturated fat which is essential for the working of your immune system, thyroid gland, nervous system and your skin.
The butter and oil made from coconut are perfect for cooking as it is the only oil that remains stable during the cooking process (not even olive oil is considered to be perfectly stable). Both safer and healthier than other oils, it makes for a great addition to a well-rounded diet.
This root from Peru doesn’t grow in all climates and is typically found in its powder form. This powder works exceptionally well in balancing hormones, and relieves PMS and menopause symptoms in women while enhancing fertility in men. Working with the needs of your body, this adaptogen boosts your immune system, enhances strength and stamina, as well as reduces stress levels.
Containing high levels of potassium, phosphorus, iron, potassium, magnesium, vitamins B1, B2, C, and E, it also fights other conditions like fatigue, tuberculosis, malnutrition, depression and anemia.
Maca powder can easily be added to your morning bowl of muesli or your mid-morning smoothie.
Much has been written about this ever-increasingly popular drink, but it is probably best known for its ability to assist with weight loss. The Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) contained in green tea will minimize blood sugar spikes, and this will increase metabolism and fat burning.
More importantly, regular consumption of green tea (3 times or more per week) has been shown to reduce the risk of digestive cancers. Numerous other studies on green tea have shown that it may also beneficial in preventing high blood lipid, cerebral thrombus, arthritis-related pain and inflammation as well as dementia.
My favorite is Matcha green tea as I prefer the flavor. It is also more nutrient-rich since there is no processing involved.
Can An Infrared Sauna Boost Your Energy & Overall Health?
While including the above superfoods in your regular diet will increase your energy levels, and also improve your general health, you can supercharge these effects by using an infrared sauna. The infrared light that is emitted by these saunas is absorbed deep in your skin.
Sweating has been proven to be an effective way of burning calories and ridding your body of toxins. With an infrared sauna, your body will be heated several inches deep, which results in more energy expenditure. Leading to the release of toxins, including mercury and lead.
This will not only assist in losing weight but will also reduce pain, enhance blood circulation and cleanse your skin.
Combine the above superfoods with the regular use of a far infrared sauna, and you will experience higher energy levels, and with all the nasty toxins flushed from your body, you will be healthier than ever!
